Joe began to laugh uproariously when he saw what else Capp had clone. " He pointed to the floor of the buggy. Old Capp had shoveled a big pile of the horse's droppings into it. Arie began to laugh, too, in spite of herself. "At least he was polite enough not to put them on the seat," she said, chuckling. " "Let's not forget to ask him if he wants some free fertilizer," Joe added. " Arie laughed at Joe's joke. But she secretly resolved somehow or other to win the poor old man over to friendship, even if it took her many a month to do it.
